Understanding Comics Ch. 3 & 4 Notes:

Ch. 3:

– We perceive the world through the experiences of our senses

– Closure; seeing the parts, perceiving the whole

– The “gutter”, is at the heart of comics

– Closure lets us connect different panels in comics

– Moment-to-moment, action-to-action, subject-to-subject, scene-to-scene, aspect-to-aspect, non-sequitur

– Comics is both additive and subtractive

– They can also be very specific or very vague
